NTSE Exam Information 2021-22:-
I think we should start this article from basic knowledge about NTSE exam.
National Talent Search Examination well known as NTSE is one of the hardest competitive exam for school level students.
It is organized by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) every year.
It is a scholarship exam organized for Class 10 students. More than scholarship, this exam is the best opportunity to be recognised as a 'National Talent'.
This exam is conducted in two stages:-
- Stage I: Conducted at State Level
- Stage II: Conducted at National Level
Each paper is divided into two parts:-
- Scholastic Ability Test (SAT)
- Mental Ability Test (MAT)
We will discuss more about the NTSE exam pattern below.
NTSE Exam Pattern:-
NTSE Exam comprises of objective type questions only. There is no negative marking in it.
As we discussed above, NTSE exam is divided into two parts, i.e. SAT and MAT.
1. Scholastic Ability Test (SAT):
In SAT, there are total 100 questions with a time limit of 120 minutes or 2 hrs.
SAT is designed in such a way to test the academic knowledge of a student. It tests the reading skills, creativeness in language, etc.
SAT comprises questions from Social Science, Maths & Science from Class 9 and 10.
2. Mental Ability Test (MAT):
In MAT also, there are 100 questions with a time limit of 120 minutes or 2 hrs.
MAT is designed in such a way to test the IQ Level of a student. It tests the mental power to think about the question and the question approaching skills for
MAT comprises of reasoning, coding-decoding, etc.
MAT can be a game changer for those students who cannot do the SAT syllabus and have sharp mind to solve MAT questions.
You have to do a lot of questions to conquer the MAT portion in the paper.

FAQs on NTSE Exam 2021-22:
1. Is NCERT is enough for NTSE?
Ans. NCERT textbooks are enough for Stage I exam of NTSE. But you also need to study state board books of class 9th and 10th.
2. Is NTSE compulsory for Class 10?
Ans. No, NTSE is not must for Class 10 students. It is not compulsory to give NTSE if you are in Class 10.
3. What happens if I clear my NTSE Stage 1?
Ans. Students who pass Stage 1 NTSE exam are selected for the Stage 2 NTSE exam.
4. Is there reservation in NTSE?
Ans. Yes, according to NCERT, there are some seats reserved for SC/ST and PWD students.
5. What are the passing marks of NTSE?
Ans. The minimum qualifying marks that a student must obtain is 40% in each paper (for General/OBC category students) and 32% in each paper (for SC/ST/PH category students).
